Barcelona, Day Three

This day was my tour of Tarragona and Sitges. I wish I could recommend this tour. It was advertised to me as a day of exploring Roman ruins. This was indeed an option, however none of the museums or sites were included in the (rather high) cost of the tour. Our guide was more of a bus driver who left us on our own in the cities.

Hell, though, I was on the Mediterranean. It’s not like I didn’t enjoy myself. It’s beautiful. Tarragona does still have a few of the ruins left from when it was the Roman capitol of Iberia. The Cathedral has been closed for a long time, but the cloister is open. The views are also rather impressive. Even more impressive: the city has only doubled in size since the time of the Romans. 60k to 120k people.

Aqueducts outside the city.

Amphitheatre.

View from the top of the hill.

Sitges, my fellow tour-mates informed me, is basically South Beach. Also, the food is expensive. Oh well. To be in summer weather again alone was worth it. I've been lucky enough to experience a very long autumn this year; it began early, in Germany, then I saw it through the season in England, and now it's just beginning in Spain.

It was getting dark by the time we arrived back again, so a short walk through Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas ended my day.
