My first day in Barcelona was primarily a travel day. I finally arrived and, with my broken Spanish, made it to my hotel, whereupon my first thought was, “I paid 200 euro for this closet?!” But such is the way of Europe.
My UE dorm room was bigger than this.
I explored the famous Barcelona street of Las Ramblas for a while. It’s a long walkway connecting Plaza Catalunya with the harbor, and it’s filled with street restaurants, artisans, souvenirs, and flower stands (also pickpockets, but I didn't have any problems). Then I ended up going back to collapse in bed.
Las Ramblas by day, facing the Columbus monument.
I made this trip totally alone, which worried me a little. However, after the first day I wasn't scared anymore. There wasn't anything I hadn't done before. It was actually a nice break to just hang out and do what I wanted to do. And now, I've been to a foreign country alone!
